CANTON Police went to Akron to arrest a man accused of punching a Canton woman, kicking and stomping her upper body and standing on her throat as he promised to kill her, Stark County court and jail records show.
Marqui T. Owens, 29, of Akron, was picked up at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on South Arlington Avenue on felony warrants charging him with domestic violence and intimidation of a crime victim or witness, Stark County jail records show.
According to court records and Canton Police reports, the warrants were issued earlier Tuesday, a day after she reported the May 10 incident.
Court records show that the 32-year-old woman and Owens were living together on Smith Avenue SW when she awoke May 10 to the attack.
The woman called police about 4 a.m. eight days later.
Owen remained behind bars on Wednesday, held in lieu of $125,000 bond pending a Canton Municipal Court hearing.
