Massillon police chase reckless motorcyclists

Jail records show that police saw “a group” of motorcycles operating recklessly on the city’s main street.

MASSILLON Police trying to stop “a group of motorcycles operating recklessly” on Lincoln Way E late Sunday night were led on a brief chase before they caught one of the drivers, Stark County Jail records show.

William R. Milliken, 19, of Dalton, was arrested at 11 p.m. in the 500 block of 17th Street NW.

According to the jail and court records, he sped away as officers were trying to pull him over, leading to a chase that doubled the speed limit. He was finally stopped “on the footpath in Bottoms Park” shortly after on Lincoln Way near 19th Street NE, the jail records show.

The records provided no details of how officers were able to stop him.

He was booked into the jail on charges of felony failure to comply with police, willful or wanton operation on a street or highway and a license plate sticker violation.

The jail records did not say whether anyone else was arrested.

Milliken was released from jail early Monday, after posting a $50,000 bond.
