Ashley Hummel will spend up to 13 years in prison for robbing Subway, Dollar General, Speedway and Valero.
CANTON A city woman will spend up to 13 years in prison for robbing two gas stations, a restaurant and a store in March.
Ashley A. Hummel, 27, of Canton, pleaded guilty Monday in Stark County Common Pleas Court to four counts of aggravated robbery, all first-degree felonies, and a single count of felonious assault.
Robbed were Speedway on Faircrest Street SW; Subway on Dueber Avenue SW; and Dollar General and Valero Mini Mart, both on Cleveland Avenue SW in Canton Township.
All four robberies occurred on March 10.
Hummel threatened store employees with a knife and demanded money, according to court records filed by the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office.
Stolen was $200 from Dollar General, $150 from Subway and $200 from Speedway.
At Valero, the defendant displayed the knife and cut an employee on the hand, said Stark County Assistant Prosecutor Beau Wenger.
Hummel “had asked (the employee) to show her some type of beverage,” Wenger said. The worker “came around the counter and (the defendant) brandished the knife, and a pushing match ensued and he was cut.”
The worker suffered a hand injury but did not require medical treatment, the assistant prosecutor said.
Judge Frank Forchione sentenced Hummel to a minimum of nine years to a maximum of 13 years and six months in prison under the state’s indefinite sentencing law.
The prison term will be dependent on Hummel’s conduct.
