CANTON Police said they found seven guns, including an AK-47, inside three vehicles following a traffic stop Tuesday night.
The discovery led police to arrest 25-year-old Clifton J. Smith and charge him with having a weapon under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon, said Lt. Dennis Garren.
Police stopped Smith in the 500 block of Shorb Avenue NW after noticing his vehicle matched the description of a vehicle from a shots-fired call earlier in the day, Garren said.
Smith had a gun and marijuana in his vehicle, Garren said.
Police then noticed that a vehicle parked nearby also matched the description of a vehicle involved in a shots-fired call. Police could see guns in plain view inside that vehicle and another parked on Shorb, leading to a further search that revealed the assault-style rifle and six handguns, Garren said.
