Police are investigating an apparent homicide Saturday night at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls.
Every available officer responded to the riverfront hotel at 11:28 p.m. Saturday following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old male shot multiple times.
First responders transferred the young man to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Details of the shooting are scarce as detectives in Cuyahoga Falls work with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to identify a suspect or suspects, and a motive. The identity of the victim is not being released until notification of next of kin, said Sgt. Mark Enos with the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.
Enos said detectives believe the shots were fired from inside the hotel. Hotel management said there would be no comment at this time.
It’s unclear how many people are believed to have been involved in the incident. Enos said no one else appears to have been struck by the gunfire, other than the deceased.
