Alliance police say a man already wanted on a felony domestic violence warrant assaulted the mother of his children, choking and striking her so many times that she lost consciousness.
ALLIANCE Police arrested a wanted man accused of choking a woman and hitting her until she fell unconscious, Stark County Jail records show.
Police say he ran from arriving officers but they caught up and arrested Brandon J. Bennett, 22, of West Cambridge Street. about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Garwood Street.
Bennett was already wanted on felony domestic violence and aggravated menacing charges, the jail records show.
He was booked into the county lockup on the warrants and on charges of felonious assault, obstructing official business, possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana paraphernalia possession and another felony domestic violence charge.
Stark County court records show warrants for his arrest were issued in January when he was accused of threatening to shoot a man and choking the same woman and threatening to kill her while she was 37 weeks pregnant. He had not been arrested on those warrants until his arrest Wednesday afternoon.
He remained behind bars Friday, held in lieu of $101,750 bond pending an Alliance Municipal Court hearing.
The woman’s condition was not available.
