Akron police said a man stole Xanax from a local pharmacy while wearing a medical mask, and then returned the next day to shoplift when he was caught.
Officers were sent to the Walgreens on South Canton Road just before 1 p.m. Saturday for a robbery.
A store employee told police a man wearing an N-95 type mask approached the pharmacy and told her he was robbing them, and then demanded Xanax. He fled the store with an unknown amount of medication.
According to the police report, the man was in the store for about 30 minutes and waited for the pharmacist to leave, leaving only the one store employee behind the counter.
Police said they responded to the same Walgreens on Sunday at about 6:40 p.m. for a shoplifting call. A store employee told police the suspect resembled the robbery suspect from the day before.
Officers arrived and arrested Jeffrey Crimaldi, 55 , of Akron after reportedly seeing him removing unpaid merchandise from his pockets. Police said detectives interviewed Crimaldi, who later admitted to the robbery the previous day.
Crimaldi was taken to Summit County Jail and charged with robbery and theft.
