A 17-year-old Akron boy is accused of fatally shooting his mother’s boyfriend during an argument.
Police said multiple officers responded to a home in the 300 block of East Voris Street for a shooting just after 6 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound.
The man was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the teen was detained at the scene. Detectives later determined the teen returned home Tuesday morning and got into an argument with the 40-year-old, who is believed to be in a relationship with the teen’s mother.
During the argument, police said the teen shot the man, who later died.
The teen has been arrested and charged with murder.
The identity of the man who was shot is being withheld pending family notifications. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
