It’s been months since TV personality Reginae Carter and rapper YFN Lucci (real name Rayshawn Lamar Bennett) called it quits from their rocky relationship. Now the daughter of Grammy-Award winning rapper Lil Wayne and reality star and entrepreneur Toya Johnson, is opening up about their split on VH1’s “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle”, season 2. In an outing with mother, Reginae Carter talks about life, post-YFN Lucci, including advice she received from her dad. She said,
“I’m getting a chance to really get to know myself and love myself, before I allow myself to love somebody else.”
Reginae Carter continued:
“It’s bringing me and my father (Lil Wayne) closer together because I’ve opened up to him. He’s been giving me advice.”
Toya Johnson asked:
“So, how do you feel about that?”
Reginae then says:
“To hear my daddy tell me that Lucci he loves you probably, but he’s not in love with you because of the actions and the things that he’s doing […] My father told me that sometimes when people don’t know how to love themselves they can’t love other people, and you can’t blame them for that. Sometimes people just don’t know how to love. Lil Wayne! He made the song ‘How To Love.’”
In a conversation with Toya and her fiancé, Reginae revealed the reasoning behind her and YFN Lucci breaking up.
After a long on and off again relationship me and Lucci are finally done.
Reginae continued and said YFN Lucci’s infamous cucumber party last year is what ended it for her:
I feel like he didn’t have respect for me like he did at the beginning. Of course, the Cucumber Party was the last straw for me. I feel like it’s not respectful for a man who’s in a relationship to be there. It’s certain things that you just don’t do, especially dating me.
