Barberton Ohio Woman Killed on Railroad Crossing

 

Barberton Public Information Officer Marty Eberhart said the investigation is ongoing, but it has been determined that the gates and signals were working as intended. He said the train horn was also being used at the time.“There’s a rumor going around on social media that the gates weren’t working, and that’s not true,” Eberhart said.He said the railroad company has its own police force and will be involved in the investigation. Barberton police and the medical examiner’s office are also investigating, Eberhart said.

CSX released a statement saying there was no injuries to the crew of the train.“There were no reported injuries to the crew of the train and no damage, leaks or spills of any freight,” the company said in a statement. “CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident and appreciates the swift response by local police and first responders. ”
